Atom Rep team is on a roll
The Atom rep team have had quite a ride over the last few weeks!  They are definitely coming together as a team and their 5 straight wins are proof.  This weekend saw two wins, one Saturday against Listowel and one on Sunday against the first place team Mitchell. Saturday’s game was exciting right down to the last minute.

The play was end to end with non-stop battles for the puck.  The first and second periods remained scoreless as Branden Bean was on fire in the net.  Tyler Johnston finally scored 3 minutes into the third when he received a beautiful pass from Tyler Dickson sending the players off the bench to celebrate.  Listowel tied the game-up about 4 minutes later but Goderich answered back with a second goal by Tyler Dickson, assisted by Cole Lewis and Tyler Johnston.  The game ended in a 2-1 win despite the fact that Goderich was 2 men short for the last minute and a half.  Sunday’s game brought the first place team Mitchell to Goderich for a game that didn’t disappoint Sailors fans.

Once again, play was end to end with great puck movement and strong defence.  The first goal was scored in the first period by Dominic Burbine as a rebound from Kyle Langlois’ shot on net.  The second period saw little action on the net although Goderich kept the pressure strong.  In the third three goals were scored by Goderich giving them a 4-1 win over Mitchell.  During a scramble in front of the net, Tyler Dickson scored the second goal assisted by Cole Lewis and Mitchell Fisher.  Tyler Dickson and Cole Lewis connected, to send Tyler down on a breakaway, he deeked  the goalie and scored once again.  The final goal was scored by Dominic Burbine with a blistering shot to trickle through Mitchell’s goalie.

Zach Smith stood solid between the pipes shutting down Mitchell’s many attempts to get a goal.  Things are looking good for the Silverstick tournament beginning on Tuesday.  If Goderich’s forwards and defence keep doing the little things right, big rewards may be waiting for them in the near future.
