Weekend Recap: Two Games, Two More Wins!
The Sailors had a stellar weekend of hockey, adding 2 more games to the win column on their now 9-3-1 record – and edging them into First Place in the South Bantam Division!

The first game of the weekend was the much anticipated re-match against the Blyth-Brussels Crusaders.  After an untimely 8 minute curfew contributed to a 5-4 defeat in their first match-up of the season, the Sailors were seeking some good old-fashioned payback.  Unfortunately, the team was slow off the mark - and despite two nice goals by Curtis and Justin - finished the first period down 4-2.   Nevertheless, the second period belonged to the Sailors as they fought back hard, securing 5 goals in just over 8 minutes to pull ahead 7-4 at the end of the second period.  The goals were nicely executed by Rory and Logan, with a hat trick going to Ethan.  Bryson in net and the defensive lines were also key to the comeback with some outstanding defense that fought off the attacks from the Crusaders.  Justin sealed the victory with another goal in the third period to end the game 8-4.  Nice comeback boys!

The second match of the weekend was a showdown against the highly ranked Mitchell Meteors.  The Sailors started the game with determination and strong offensive and defensive play that captured them the first 3 goals of the game – on two nicely placed shots by Evan and a lower pocket for Carter.   However, the Mitchell boys fought back in the third and got two back to back goals to close the score to 4-2.   Justin and Caden landed 2 more for the Sailors in the third period to answer the third goal for the Meteors and win the game 5-3.  Once again, the strong passing, fore-checking, back-checking and overall teamwork by both the defensive and offensive lines - and Michael in net - paid off for the Sailors.  Let’s keep working hard and hang-on to that first place guys!
