Sailors Take a Strangle Hold on Playoffs
On March 5, 2014, the Goderich Sailors hosted the Saugeen Shores Storm for their second and final meeting in their playoff round.
Goderich pounced on the early lead when Joey set up Eli for the first goal of the game. Saugeen struck back with 3:30 left in the first period when they caught Eric off guard on their first shot of the game. But Eli struck again when Eric passed him the puck to make it 2-1 Sailors at the end of the first.
Half way through the second period, Eric passed the puck to Kaleb who went end-to-end down the left wing and fired the puck passed the Shores goalie making it 3-1. The Sailors were far from done. On the next face-off, Eli passed the puck back to Wade who passed it to Keegan and down the right wing he went and potted the Sailors fourth goal of the game. Just a minute later, Evan received a pass from Eric, who was on fire, and made it 5-1 Sailors. With 2:51 left in the second period the Storm found a loose puck along the boards and slipped one by Eric to make it 5-2 heading into the third period.
In the third period the Storm struck first scoring their third goal of the game with 13:14 remaining. But Goderich wasn't finished lighting the lamp, Alex passed the puck to Kaden who found Eli parked in front of the net and bang Goderich had their sixth goal of the game.
