Coach's Cast - Season Opener

Friday night’s season opener against the C 4th Stars proved to be an exciting game to the finish. The shorthanded Sailors opened the scoring early in the first and held the lead late into the third despite missing four skaters.
The team welcomed back No.15, who returned to action after missing the third period of last Saturday’s exhibition game against Listowel. Showing no ill effects of the big hit, Ty scored one and added two assists in the 5-4 loss.
With a much improved team defensive effort the red shirts were able to swiftly move the puck out of the defensive zone and aggressive defensemen on the blue line often kept the puck in the offensive end. It was great to see the wingers hustling back and patrolling their wings with a sense of purpose.
The game finished as it began with end to end action. A break away save with 1:30 left preserved the one goal deficit and there was a flurry of shots on net in an attempt to tie it up.
