Atom Rep Solid Start to New Season
The Crabby Joe’s Atom Rep Sailors start season off above 500 with a record of 3-2-1 in exhibition play.
The team would start off the regular season on Oct. 24th playing on the road against the Saugeen Storm. The game would get off to a quick start with the Sailors coming out hard and notching the first goal just one minute into the period. The team continued to pour on the pressure with hard work and great team work notching two more unanswered goals in the period. Again early in the second the Sailors would strike again going up 4-0 but then penalty trouble set in with the Sailors taking 3 penalties in a row. The team did a great job killing off the penalties until the last of them when the Storm finally got one by goaltender Liam Shore to get on the score sheet. The Storm found some life and a minute later notched another to move within two goals to end the period. The Sailors would come out in the third picking up the pace and soon notching another, spreading the lead again but the Storm played a tough remainder of the game scoring again with 4 mins. remaining in the period tightening up the score once again. The Sailors however would hang tough scoring another late in the period to finish up the game with a 6-3 victory. Solid Goaltending and hard teamwork by all made it a great game to watch for everyone. Scoring for the Sailors were Nate Helesic (3), Liam Armstrong (1), Kyle Larkin (1), Megan Johnston (1) with goals being assisted by Mitchell Fisher (3), Megan Johnston (1), Nate Helesic (1) and Troy Peters.
