Parkhill Jr. Stars (exhibition), Arthur Vipers, Minto Mad Dogs
The Lions Peewee Rep Sailors were in action last weekend with two games, plus another on Monday night.

The Sailors seemed a little flat for most of the game and the high flying Stars took advantage, scoring their first goal just 1:30 into the first period. The Sailors had stretches when they were the Stars' equal including the lone goal from Eric M. who broke in 2 on 1, used his teammate as a decoy, and shot a wrist shot top shelf to tie the game late in the first. The lone assist went to Kaleb C. For much of the game though it seemed like they didn't have much in the tank eventually falling 5-1. The general feeling was we didn't see their best effort, and they would bounce back.

Saturday afternoon they had their chance to bounce back hosting the Arthur Vipers. From the drop of the first puck the Sailors seemed determined to have a better outing. They were generating a lot of good scoring chances in the first period but were not able to put one in until just under five minutes to play when Eric M. scored on a great passing play from Luke E. and Owen M.
In the second period the Sailors continued their puck possession dominance and the offence exploded with four goals. Just 45 seconds in, off a scrambled face off, the puck squirted out to Evan M. who walked around the defenseman and scored a nice wrist shot top shelf. Assists went to Jacob L. and Daerien R.
Four minutes later Jacob L. came streaking down the wing and behind the net, centered a pass to Evan M. who found Wilder H. all alone on the back door for a tap in.
Less than two minutes later Keegan G. picked up the puck in his own end and went coast to coast. His wrist shot took a favorable bounce off the Viper goalkeeper's stick and ramped up into the top corner.
With just thirty seconds to go in the second, Wilder H. blocked a clearing attempt by the Vipers and blasted a slap shot from the top of the circle making it 5-0 heading into the third.
Austin A. showed off his hand-eye skills in the third when he gathered in a puck that caromed off the end boards from a shot from the point, and calmly tucked it in. Assists from Keegan G. and Mitchell H.
The final goal of the game was scored when Eric M. circled out from behind the net, couldn't find an open man to pass to, so he fired a shot over the blocker into the Back of the net.
Behind the great team defense, Sailor's goalie Ben G. had a few good stops to earn the shutout. Final 7-0.

On Monday night the team traveled to Harriston to take on the Minto Mad Dogs. It was a back and forth first period with both teams generating scoring chances, but the goalies stood tall and preserved a 0-0 tie going into the second.
The Sailors began the second period with back to back penalty kills without surrendering a scoring chance, and seemed to be a little motivated by it. Less than two minutes later Eric M. broke into the Mad Dogs zone and found Austin A. who was driving to the net and redirected the pass between the goalie's pads for a 1-0 lead.
An insurance goal came just over a minute later on the power play when a shot from Owen M. was stopped by the goalie but not covered. Eric M. picked up the loose puck and potted it in the goal.
The third period was again back and forth, but the Mad Dogs were pressing hard to score. Sailor's goalie Eric V. was up to the challenge however and earned the team's second shutout in a row. Final 2-0.

The team will be competing in Lucknow's Royal Canadian Legion tournament this weekend.
